Steve & his son

Glen Parva is home turf for us, we're based right here so if you're on one of the 1930s semis or over on the newer estates, chances are we've already worked on a boiler or a stubborn pipe two doors down. It's a nice mix of housing stock here, older properties with original pipework that's had a few "adaptations" over the years, and newer builds where everything's meant to be straightforward but somehow never quite is. We know both. Pop to Aldi or Sainsbury's on the regular, so if you spot the van you'll know it's us, not some stranger who's driven across the city. Being local means less faffing about, quicker call-outs, and no excuse for not knowing the area. Whether it's a boiler that's given up on a Tuesday morning or a slow drip that's turned into a proper leak near Saffron Brook, we're not far and we don't treat it like a special trip. Gas Safe registered, Checkatrade 10/10 from 131 reviews, and we've built our name on turning up when we say we will.

Glen Parva homes and common issues

Glen Parva's a mix of solid 1930s semis around the older parts of the village, post-war council-built terraces, and the newer estates that have gone up over the years towards Sandhurst Avenue and the Saffron Road side. A lot of the older stock still has original cast iron soil stacks and undersized pipework hiding behind the walls, while the newer builds lean heavily on combi boilers tucked into kitchen cupboards, with all the pressure and airlock quirks that come with that setup. Being this close to the Grand Union Canal and the low-lying ground near the Saffron Brook, we also see our fair share of damp-related pipe corrosion in older properties, so it's not unusual to get called out to a home where the heating system's been limping along on original radiators from the 70s or 80s.

  • Combi boiler pressure loss and lockouts in the newer estate builds, often down to a small drip on the filling loop or an airlock nobody's spotted yet
  • Corroded cast iron soil stacks and old lead pipe connections in the 1930s semis, especially where damp's got into the walls on the canal side
  • Cold spots and banging radiators in homes still running original heating systems from the 70s and 80s, usually sludge build up or a tired pump
  • Frozen or burst outside taps and pipework over winter in properties with exposed or poorly lagged pipes under suspended floors

Glen Parva - frequently asked questions

Do you cover Glen Parva for emergency plumbing?
Yes, and because we're actually based here it's not a special journey for us. Burst pipe, no heating, a leak that's spreading, give us a call and we'll get to you as quick as we can.
How fast can you get to a boiler breakdown in Glen Parva?
Being local we can usually turn round fast, often the same day depending on when you call. We don't have to cross the city to reach you, we're already on your patch.
Do you work on both old and new boilers?
Yes. We install and service all major boiler brands, so whether it's an ageing system in one of the older semis or a newer combi in a recent estate build, we've got you covered.
My house is a 1930s semi, do you deal with older pipework?
All the time. A lot of Glen Parva's housing is older stock with pipework that's been patched and altered over the decades. We know what to expect and how to work with it properly, not just paper over it.
Can you fix a blocked drain or sink?
Yes, blocked pipes and drains are a big part of what we do day to day. We'll clear it properly and have a look at why it happened in the first place, not just push the problem further down the line.
Do you do boiler servicing as well as repairs?
Absolutely, regular servicing is honestly the best way to avoid an emergency call-out in the first place. We'll check it over properly and flag anything that needs sorting before it becomes a bigger job.
Are you Gas Safe registered?
Yes, fully Gas Safe registered, which you should always check for anyone working on your boiler or gas appliances. Ask to see the card if you're not sure.
I've got a leak near a wall, is that something you can find and fix?
Yes, tracing leaks is one of the trickier jobs but it's something we do regularly. We'd rather find the actual source than just patch the symptom, especially with the ground round here being a bit damp near Saffron Brook in places.
Do you install new boilers or just repair existing ones?
Both. If your boiler's on its last legs or costing more to keep going than it's worth, we can talk you through a swap or upgrade and get a new one fitted properly.
How do people in Glen Parva know you're trustworthy?
We've built our reputation on actually turning up and doing the job right, which shows in our Checkatrade rating of 10/10 from 131 reviews and 5.0 stars on Google. We're a father and son team, this is our name on the van, so we're not going anywhere.
