Steve & his son
Nobody notices their boiler until it stops working. One minute it's just quietly doing its job in the cupboard, the next you've got no hot water and a cold house full of complaints. We handle both ends of that, the boring bit that stops it happening (regular servicing) and the urgent bit when it does anyway (repairs and breakdowns). We're Steve and his son, a father and son plumbing and heating team based in Glen Parva, Leicester. Gas Safe registered, so all the gas safety checks are done properly and legally, every time. We service and repair all major boiler brands, not just one or two makes, so it doesn't matter what's fitted in your home. Whether you want a straightforward annual service booked in to keep the warranty valid and the boiler running efficiently, or you've woken up to no heating and need someone out today, get in touch. We'll give you a straight answer on timing and cost before we start, and we won't try to sell you anything you don't need.
Boilers rarely pick a convenient time to go wrong. It's always a Sunday morning, or the coldest week of the year, or right before you've got family staying. Whether it's a routine annual service or the heating's packed in overnight, that's what we're here for. An annual boiler service is the cheapest insurance you'll ever buy for your heating system. We check the burner, flue, pressure, and controls, test for gas soundness and carbon monoxide safety, and make sure everything's running the way it should. Most boiler manufacturers require an annual service to keep the warranty valid, and it's also your best chance of catching a small fault before it turns into a breakdown in January. We'll give you a proper written report at the end, not just a tick on a card. When something does go wrong, we deal with the full range of faults. No heating, no hot water, boiler locking out and flashing an error code, strange noises, leaking from the boiler itself, pilot light won't stay lit, pressure keeps dropping, radiators not heating up properly. We work on all major boiler brands, so whatever's fitted in your house, we can service it and fix it. We know that no heating or hot water isn't just inconvenient, it's genuinely stressful, especially with kids or elderly relatives in the house or when it's freezing outside. We treat breakdowns as the priority they are and get to you as quickly as we can, with honest advice on what's actually wrong and what it'll cost to put right before we start any work. Steve and his son run every job themselves, father and son, no subcontractors, no call centre. Gas Safe registered, rated 10/10 on Checkatrade from 131 reviews, and 5.0 stars on Google. That's not luck, it's what happens when you turn up, do the job properly, and don't disappear afterwards.
Boiler Servicing & Repairs - recent jobs

Signs you might need this
Banging or gurgling noises when it fires up
Usually air in the system or sludge building on the heat exchanger. Leave it and the boiler works harder than it needs to, which shows up on your gas bill before long.
Pilot light keeps going out
Could be a faulty thermocouple, could be a draught, could be something worse. Don't keep relighting it and hoping, get it looked at.
Top of the radiator stone cold, bottom's fine
Trapped air or sludge sitting in the system. A bleed might buy you a few weeks, but if it's back again soon a proper flush is the fix.
You honestly can't remember your last service
If it's been more than a year, you're probably outside your warranty terms and running blind on faults that haven't shown themselves yet.
Flame's yellow or orange, not blue
This one doesn't wait for an appointment. A proper gas flame burns blue, anything else can mean incomplete combustion and a carbon monoxide risk.
Gas bill's up and nothing else has changed
An efficiency drop often turns up on the statement weeks before the boiler actually packs in.
How it works
- 1
Call us, tell us what it's doing
No heating, a strange noise, or just your annual service due, tell us what's going on. We'll ask a couple of quick questions so we're not turning up guessing.
- 2
We get to you, usually same day for breakdowns
No heating or hot water isn't something that can wait, so we treat it that way. Servicing gets booked around you instead, no full-day waiting windows.
- 3
Fixed on the spot where we can, straight answer where we can't
Most repairs are done in one visit. If a part needs ordering we'll say so upfront, along with what it'll cost and roughly when we're back.

Boiler Servicing & Repairs - frequently asked questions
- How often should I get my boiler serviced?
- Once a year is the standard recommendation, and most manufacturers require it to keep the warranty valid. It's worth booking it in for roughly the same time each year, ideally before autumn, so it's ready for winter.
- What does a boiler service actually involve?
- We check the burner and heat exchanger, test the flue for safe operation, check gas pressure and soundness, test the safety controls, check the condensate pipe, and look over the general condition of the boiler. You'll get a written report at the end so you know exactly what was checked.
- How quickly can you come out if my boiler breaks down?
- We understand no heating or hot water isn't something that can wait, especially in winter. Give us a call and we'll get to you as quickly as we can, usually the same day.
- My boiler keeps losing pressure, is that serious?
- It can point to a few different things, a small leak somewhere in the system, a faulty pressure relief valve, or an issue with the expansion vessel. It's worth getting looked at rather than just topping up the pressure repeatedly, as that can mask a bigger problem.
- Do you work on all boiler makes and models?
- Yes, we install and service all major boiler brands, so whatever's fitted in your home, we can look after it.
- My boiler is flashing an error code, what should I do?
- Most modern boilers show a fault code when something's wrong. Turn it off, don't keep resetting it repeatedly, and give us a call with the code if you can see it. It helps us diagnose the issue before we even arrive.
- Is a boiler service the same as a gas safety check?
- Not quite. A boiler service checks the performance and condition of the boiler itself. A gas safety check (often needed for landlords) is a legal check of all gas appliances in a property. We're Gas Safe registered and can do both.
- Will you tell me if I actually need a new boiler instead of a repair?
- Always. If a repair isn't worth the money, or the boiler's on its last legs, we'll say so honestly rather than keep patching it up. Plenty of times a repair is the right call too, we're not in the business of pushing replacements you don't need.
- Do you charge for a call out if you can't fix it there and then?
- We'll always talk you through cost before starting any work, so there are no surprises. Most repairs are sorted in a single visit, but if a part needs ordering, we'll explain that clearly upfront.
- Are you actually Gas Safe registered?
- Yes, always ask to see the Gas Safe ID card of anyone working on your boiler or gas appliances, it's the law. We're happy to show ours on every job.
- Do you cover Glen Parva and the surrounding area?
- Yes, we're based in Glen Parva, Leicester, and cover the local area for both servicing and breakdown repairs.
- What if my boiler has no hot water but the heating still works?
- That's a common fault and can be down to a few things, a diverter valve issue, a faulty sensor, or a problem with the hot water side of a combi boiler. It's the kind of thing best diagnosed in person rather than guessed at over the phone, give us a call and we'll get it sorted.
